Vice TV, Animation+ team on creator-focused late-night programming block
Two hours of content from Animation+, a creator-focused adult animation AVoD streamer, will air on US cable network Vice TV as part of a new programming block.
Titled Animation+ Mixtape, the block will air from 00:00-02:00 on Friday and Saturday nights starting this weekend.
The partnership aims to showcase Animation+’s mix of independently made comedies, shorts and series while introducing Vice audiences to some of today’s most innovative and boundary pushing adult animation work.
Launched in 2024 by co-founders John Fitzpatrick and Evan Weiss, Animation+ is a free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channel and AVoD service with a mandate to act as a “launchpad for innovative content often overlooked by traditional networks and gatekeepers.” Animated content programmed by Animation+ spans comedy, horror, science fiction, satire and experimental content.
The channel is currently available across multiple FAST and AVoD platforms including Samsung TV Plus, Tubi, Roku, Vizio WatchFree+, Hisense VIDAA and Plex.
The Animation+ Mixtape programming block is being spearheaded by Animation+ head of content Niall Madden.
“Vice has always had a talent for championing voices that don’t fit neatly into traditional media, and that’s exactly what Animation+ was built to celebrate,” said Weiss and Fitzpatrick.
“Our Animation+ Mixtape content block brings together some of today’s most original independent animators, and we couldn’t ask for a more fitting platform to introduce their work to wider audiences.
Vice TV president Pete Gaffney added: “Our audience craves edgy, distinct, and original voices that push boundaries, and we’re proud to partner with Animation+ to showcase some of the best independent animated content available today.”
